Fed4PMR Gains Momentum! Linked post outlines migration plans for mission-critical applications (en Français, bien sur!)

A new post on LinkedIn about Fed4PMR deserves a mention.

As a reminder, the goal of the Fed4PMR consortium is to ensure the transition success of legacy, voice-only, private mobile radio communications networks, to new, standards-based, resilient, highly-scalable, secure and commercially-proven 4G/LTE networks for mission-critical applications.

Emergency mobile communication networks play a key role in ensuring the safety of the public, assets, goods and of course first responders, managing mission-critical, time-sensitive emergency situations. Migrating these communications systems to LTE with Multicast, will drastically reduce costs and expenses, while providing highly secure solutions.

First on the plate, is to insure scalable, highly-available-mobile push-to-talk solutions, with group call capabilities. Next on the list, is video and data sharing. All of which designed on technology platforms planned for easy migration towards 5G.
